Driving Challenge :)

Day # 4 of The Ultimate Blog Challenge... You can read my other posts for the Challenge here :)

I am into day 4 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge.  I must confess I am totally loving it.  Besides the writing part what I love most is, how many new blogs I have been introduced to.  I really hope to make a lot more new blogger friends before the end of this challenge :) :).

So Day 4, and keeping up with my theme of my 'learning challenges' where I covered my cooking challenge yesterday, today I will tell you about my 'Driving Challenge'

This one is going to be short; like really short!  I was 20 when I decided to learn driving, or rather everyone thought I was ready to learn how to drive.  So I started.  The car in scene here is a Maruti 800.  My mother after seeing all the auspicious timings in her Malayalam calendar decided that was the day which was best for me to drive.  It would be safe according to her and the calendar.

After being explained initially about the mechanism of the car, I was asked to start it.

Step 1:  Insert the keys and start the ignition
Step 2:  Pull to gear 1
Step 2:  Slowly lift your feet from the accelerator and simultaneously from the brakes

I did all the above, and yet for no reason the car just jumped forward and my feet on the accelerator would just not move, and I forgot where the brake was and car banged into a pole BOOM!!!!! (I know it's a tree in the picture :D)

That's it... end of driving lessons!!! Told ya.. it was going to be short... my driving lessons ended even before it started... I prefer chauffeur (read: husband) driven cars now :D :D

  1. LOL. I finally got around to learning to drive a couple of years ago. I haven't driven since, so I think I'd need a refresher before taking the wheel for real.

  2. Oh no! It took me ages to finally learn to drive. My dad taught me and decided clutch control was the one thing I had to learn before anything else. I've got to admit, it's really helped now, especially when I'm in a new car.

  3. I have an unexplainable fear of driving and I'm yet to learn a two-wheeler. Scratch that. I'm yet to learn riding a cycle*embarrassed grin*

  5. That same thing happened when my dad tried teaching my mom how to drive. It was a football goalpost in our local playground. That was her first and last attempt.
I learnt it when we bought our car 4 years back. So, when I had just about got some confidence and took the car to office 2-3 times, I discovered I was pregnant. That day and this day, I also love chauffeur (husband) driven car ;-) But now I think I need to brush up my skills because the little one is going to start school soon.

  6. I dont want to sound like a Male chauvinism but ladies do end up messing the things around when it comes to driving. One of my very close bhabhis was forced to learn driving and what happened on day one is now legend now. She fainted when made to sit on the drivers seat.
Today while coming from a mtg saw a lady driving a Maruti 800 with flat rear tyre and the funny thing was that she did not know. She was still going at the rate of knots with the rear tyre almost coming out of the wheel rim when a traffic police officer stopped her and brought that to her notice. I could not stop laughting at the suituation. Poor tyre.... Rahul Dhar

  9. I learnt to drive at the ripe old age of 27..it was quite nerve racking, but with support of my family and my great driving instructor I passed first time...the only scrapes I've had were backing into a stationary car and skip both parked opposite my drive and have recently returned from a 500 mile round trip (20 years since passing my test!) 18. No one believes that I can drive. They are more concerned about everyone on the road rather than me. When I drive, I only hear "It is not F1 race..slow..slow..brake..brake." :D And I have a license too. Now, going to get an Oregon license soon. :D
