Lust

Day #27 of The Ultimate Blog Challenge...You can read my other posts for the Challenge here :)

Since it's a weekend and most of us would be in a relaxed mood,  I thought of discussing a serious issue here... about never ending desires...yes today's sin, dear readers is the four letter word .... LUST

The most commonly know definition of lust is, overly indulging in sexual activity or only thinking about ways to satisfy oneself sexually.  Yes there are people who only think about sex all the time and it has also been termed as an illness and new and modern therapies have been introduced by medical science to cure them.  And when we speak of lust, don't just get your bulbs on and think only men have this feeling, you will be surprised to see how many women take up therapies because of this illness.

What are the symptoms of lust?  Can you clearly identify such people?  I am not sure about it.  Though I think some of the symptoms could be, showing less interest in all other areas of a relationship except sex, despite problems in relationships wanting to have sex regularly, or while having sex only thinking of ones own satisfaction and not bothering about the partner's requirement etc., these are not definitive, but I think you get a picture of what I am trying to say.

What is worst is when lust completely controls that person's brains and he/she believes in having it by means of force.  Yes I am talking about rape, child molestation etc., Recently our country seems to really need serious help in this area.  This illness is spreading like an epidemic.  Everyday you hear atleast 2-3 cases of rape and atleast 1 victim out of them would be a minor.  No amount of protests or public rage really seems to be stopping this.  I remember reading it somewhere that, this is like an addiction.  When tested people with this illness showed the same symptoms of drug addicts.  Well in my opinion they should be shot but medicos can argue that they can be cured... whatever!!

But it is not only about sex, I have known people lusting after books, or computer games or writing.  No this is not like you and me having to read a book to feel good...these are people who leave their jobs and family responsibilities and do all this.  Excessive of anything is harmful.  These people are also called addicts. In a situation where these people even refuse to accept that they have a problem how can one expect them to even take the help that is offered.

If we look around we will be surprised to see how many men and mostly women are in relationship with such people.  The partner terms this excessive behaviour of his/her as love but love is clearly not lust.  When  you hear the warning bells, it is better to talk to the partner about it or just flee...seriously!!!

  2. The colour red denotes the unwanted four letter word. You are right in saying that its a mental disease and many therapies to 'cure' this are widely used. But alas! the epidemic refuses to die down.

  4. That's an interesting topic of discussion. Of course, I agree there is a lot of cloud on the same affecting our life and love. Guess, it all boils on down to more education on the subject and encouraging people to stand up for their individuality.

  6. Lust is been taking many lives now which is plain simple sad. Lust with no love is alright if its mutual, then its like "who cares" But when the element of force enters things go awry...

and yeah the woman depicting lust is the sexiest in the sins you showed :P (had to be :D )

I hate when someone in any form ventures and live in these worlds and dont even get in started in the generation after mine.. did U see the trailers of the movie 16. Sex at 16??Are U kidding me..??? The only thing I lost when I was sixteen were my oily plaits.. Honestly, I tell you!!!!Hrmmmmph
