Tallinn ♥

Day #13 of The Ultimate Blog Challenge...You can read my other posts for the Challenge here :)

The Republic of Estonia is situated in North Europe.  The language spoken there is Estonian which is very much like the Finnish Language.  Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and also the largest city of Estonia.  The Old Town of Tallin is featured in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  You will find these details on Wikipedia.....but there is one detail that you will not find on Wikipedia but you will find it on SuKupedia...which is that... Tallinn also holds the record of being SuKu's First Cruise Trip

Yes dear friends today we will go by sea... The Baltic Sea.  We take a Cruise to Tallinn...My First Every Cruise ♥

But before we proceed I will tell you a small story.  When we were small my mother really wanted to go to Goa and that too by ship.  Obviously my dad could not afford it, but his reasoning never satisfied mom. One day after the usual mom cribbing about it and dad defending himself we all sat down to watch a Hindi movie that was being telecasted on TV.  The movie was Angoor which is based on Shakespere's Comedy of Errors.  In that movie if you have seen it, in the beginning itself they show that a family travels by ship, but unfortunately the ship sinks due to bad weather.  As soon as we saw that all three of us me and my siblings turned to my mom in horror and said 'we will never go to Goa' .  Dad was grinning because now he was saved the trouble of convincing mom forever.  True to that none of us have ever been to Goa so far.  Hopefully some day we will.

Now coming back to my cruise trip...after that story above, it should not surprise you how much I missed my family that day.  This is how our ship looked... so mighty and graceful I loved it...this was the first time I was seeing a ship so close.

I had heard about vehicles being transported in ships but saw it for the first time and the sight left my mouth opened

It had a great duty free shopping floor, with cafes and restaurants.  It was a 10 floor accommodation.

Yes 10 floors complete with elevators and exquisite staircases.  That's me and Ritchie on one of them.

We were on the 9th Floor of the ship.  Also not all the rooms (or cabins as they call) have windows.  Our room had a fantastic window.  When the ship first started to sail it was not into the open sea yet.  It was passing by slowly and we could see all houses on the shores (lucky people they are).
We were on the decks for quite sometime.  On skype showed my MIL all over the place (technology benefits).  We retired early to beds that night as we were tired because of a late night and early wake up.  Morning when I woke up and looked out of the window, believe me my heart missed a beat.  We were in the middle of the sea!!! I woke up Ritchie and his look was also priceless.  We grabbed coats and went on the deck.  What I saw from the deck was amazing.  Water water everywhere.  Other ships passing by and the sound of waves hitting the ship, oh it was so lovely.

Our ship reached Tallinn at around 10am and thus began our tour.  This is the lovely Sightseeing bus which we took there.

This is the picture of a beautiful Russian Church.  Russian cuisine is also very famous there.

This sight I have not seen in any part of the world  I hope you can read the picture.  Two men on the street were begging and this is what was written  'Need Money for Beer'

Tallinn has a lot of old buildings and we also visited some museums.  By the time we reached our ship back in the evening, we were squashed, but the spirits were really high.

With those high spirits we thoroughly enjoyed the evening at the casinos and those guys also had entertainment programs.  Turned out to be a great evening

That's the Mr and Mrs determined not to do a Titanic pose

  1. It is amazing how cruise ships seem to be almost like a self contained floating city. I have never been on a cruise, but I bet it would be quite an experience. Thank you for allowing me to come along and experience your trip first hand through your blog and pictures. I enjoyed it immensely!
